20th CENTURY

...In fact the various research work going on for over a century has lead us to consider the postural system as a ‘structured whole ’ with multiple inputs having several complementary functions :
............· fighting against gravity and maintaining an upright position
............· resisting external forces
............· positioning us in the structured space-time which surrounds us
............· balancing us when moving, guiding and strengthening it

In order to carry out this neuro-physiological exploit the body uses various sources :
............· exteroceptors - that position us in relation to our environment (touch, sight, hearing)
............· proprioceptors - positioning the various parts of the body relative to the ensemble, in a given position.
............· higher centres - integrating the strategy selectors, the cognitive processes (Paillard) and treating the information input from the previous two sources.

There exists however a ‘postural invariant’ which represents the ideal position of the body in space at a given moment in our phylogenetic evolution.

This is not an alternative medicine, but a new way of approaching medicine,

replacing purely symptomatic treatments by a more etiologic method based on irrefutable neuro-physiological scientific bases.
